India’s government has called for an increase in wind component production to 85%

At the recent 7th edition of ‘Windergy India 2025’, government officials called on the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS), or any other wind power component manufacturers, to increase domestic production from the current levels of 65% to an astonishing 85% in order to effectively compete with other nations.

Wind energy currently accounts for nearly one-fifth of India’s energy generation capacity, and the government wants to increase that reliance on the sector dramatically. India has become an essential provider of crucial wind components for the world, as many nations struggle with China’s dominance in the supply chain.

The minister also noted that India already has a foothold in the international wind power supply chain, with orders in the USA, Europe, Australia, and Brazil, not to mention that India is challenging China’s supply chain with orders from several Asian nations.
