Microsoft (MSFT, Financials) stated that it will invest $10 billion in a large-scale artificial intelligence data center project in Sines, Portugal, over the next few years, reflecting its growing commitment to European AI infrastructure.US tech giant will host 12,600 next-generation GPUs in the data hub with Start Campus, Nscale, and NVIDIA. One of Europe’s most advanced cloud and AI computer centers will be 150 km south of Lisbon.By strengthening national AI infrastructure with Nscale, NVIDIA, and Start Campus, we are helping position Portugal as a benchmark for responsible and scalable AI development in Europe,said Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith.Start Campus, sponsored by Davidson Kempner Capital Management and Pioneer Point Partners, pledged 8.5 billion to make Sines a global data center hub by 2030.
