Amazon Fire TV Rolling Out “Jump To Scene” Voice Feature On Alexa+ Spanning Thousands Of F

December 3, 2025

Amazon Fire TV is rolling out a new feature on its AI-powered Alexa+ voice platform that lets viewers briefly describe a movie scene and have Prime Video jump directly to it.

The feature responds to spoken commands that don’t necessarily have the movie title in it, as in the Die Hard directive, “Jump to the scene when John McClane says ‘come out to the coast, we’ll get together, have a few laughs.’” In some cases, the movie title can be accompanied by more general direction like “Jump to the boulder chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

Tens of thousands of scenes from thousands of movie titles available on Prime Video are part of the offering at launch. Fire TV plans to add more movies and ultimately expand to TV series. Eligible titles are those that are either included with a Prime membership or purchased or rented from Prime Video.

Alexa+, unveiled last March, is the next evolution of the tech giant’s voice assistant, endowed with significant new AI-driven functionality. As a company, Amazon is pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into AI infrastructure, with video just one aspect of the efficiencies anticipated by the management team.

Customers who buy an eligible device can qualify for early access to Alexa+, as can others upon request. A couple of months after announcing Alexa+, Amazon said it had onboarded hundreds of thousands of Prime members. When the early access period closes, likely in January 2026, Alexa+ will stay free for Prime members or cost $19.99 a month as a stand-alone subscription.

The “jump to scene” feature uses AI technology to work across multiple Amazon services. Alexa+ can determine the movie title even if the speaker does not mention it, instead relying on visual understanding and movie captions to quickly understand the characters, plot, and action happening in a given scene. Like Alexa+, this feature is built on Amazon Bedrock and utilizes a variety of large language models, including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude.

“Our number one mission at Fire TV is getting you to what you want to watch – fast,” the company said in a blog post. “Just describe a movie scene like you would to a friend, and Alexa+ will jump directly to that specific moment—no more searching required. This feature joins Fire TV’s growing suite of AI capabilities, enhancing personalized recommendations based on customers’ viewing preferences and subscriptions, while helping them discover content they want to watch even faster.”
