Amazon Prime Video is offering its U.S. subscribers a major upgrade for free
December 13, 2025
For those of you who are usually glued to the news networks, and also have Amazon Prime Video, something great comes this way.
While quite a few of the major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max and other’s prices have soared in a bid for competition when it comes to the production of quality content, Amazon Prime Video just pulled a noticeable move that could make the streaming platform even more of a worthy contender.
Coming off the heels of its major move this past summer, where it shut down its stand-alone Freevee app and directed viewers to continue watching the Freevee app’s content on Prime Video, Amazon pulled a fast one and made a free upgrade for its U.S. subscribers.
Making the big announcement on Dec. 3, Amazon Prime Video launched a new section that’s specifically focused on news.
This means that subscribers who are in the U.S. have full access to local, national, and global news coverage from leading networks, according to a press release.
“The service aggregates hundreds of 24/7 news channels at no additional cost to viewers, including major linear streams,” the company shared.
The news section will be free by the end of the year, where viewers can smoothly access the section through the top navigation in the Prime Video app. The total selection is set to have over 200 channels by the end of the year.
The streaming app carries non-stop live and on-demand news content, spanning from live local and regional news stations to weather coverage from a host of networks.
The list of available news networks include:
- ABC News Live
- CBS News 24/7
- LiveNOW from Fox
- CNN Headlines
- NBC News NOW
Additionally, anyone can access the news hub as long as they have an Amazon account in the U.S. and it doesn’t matter if you have Prime membership or not, and works on many devices that support the Prime Video app.
