LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Years after Gov. Andy Beshear first signed the medical cannabis bill into law, the supply chain is finally finished.
There’s now at least one dispensary, processor and cultivator operating in Kentucky.
On Jan. 9, the governor said more than 17,300 Kentuckians have been approved for medical cannabis cards. Practitioners have issued nearly 26,000 electronic certifications.
A spokesperson for the Office of Medical Cannabis (OMC) told WHAS11 News in September 2025 the number of qualifying medical conditions collected from written certifications by practitioners does not match the total number of card applications.
They said practitioners might have needed to submit multiple electronic written certifications for the same person due to the previous request expiring, and the patient might have more than one qualifying condition.
Chronic pain was the number one condition patients were approved for, according to information WHAS11 News received in September.
Cultivator
Armory Kentucky LLC, a cultivator based in Mayfield, introduced the first medical cannabis inventory in the state’s history, according to Beshear.
The second cultivator, Natural State GreenGrass CannaCo in Madison County, held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, the governor’s office said.
Cultivators are allowed to grow and harvest medical cannabis plants in an enclosed facility to sell to licensed medical cannabis processors, producers or dispensaries in Kentucky.
Processor
Toro Infused, located in Dayton, about 15 minutes from Cincinnati, transforms raw cannabis from Kentucky farmers into medical products for patients. The company, which held a ribbon-cutting Thursday, is licensed under Bison Infused Kentucky, LLC.
Dispensary
As for dispensaries, there is one open in Beaver Dam called The Post, and one in Lexington called the Speakeasy Dispensary.
The Post ran out of product within a week of opening in December.
While the Speakeasy Dispensary is the second one to open in Kentucky, it is the first dispensary to open in a metropolitan area.
