The layoffs will impact several Amazon facilities, with the majority occurring at corporate offices.
In Seattle, 1,407 employees will be affected, while Bellevue will see 626 layoffs. The Redmond corporate location will lose 30 employees.
In addition to corporate offices, Amazon’s fulfillment centers will also experience layoffs, though on a smaller scale. A total of 19 employees across seven fulfillment centers in Sumner, Dupont, Kent, Spokane, Arlington, and Pasco will be impacted.
Furthermore, 116 remote employees working in Washington state are also slated for layoffs.
Last week, Amazon initially announced the mass layoffs, cutting about 16,000 jobs total across the company in a move that will affect nearly one in 10 members of its corporate workforce.
The reductions come just three months after the e-commerce giant eliminated about 14,000 positions, marking one of the most significant periods of workforce contraction in the company’s history.
Amazon has cited a growing reliance on artificial intelligence and a need to streamline operations as key drivers behind the cuts.
Amazon said U.S.-based employees affected by the layoffs will be given 90 days to seek other roles within the company.
