NV Energy exceeds state requirements for renewable energy
April 20, 2026
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – NV Energy says it has exceeded state requirements for renewable energy.
They say they have exceeded Nevada’s Renewable Portfolio Standard requirements for 2025.
Nevada’s RPS requires electric utilities to increase the amount of renewable energy they generate or purchase over time. The standard has been set at 34% for 2025 and will rise to 42% in 2027 before reaching 30% by 2030.
The company reports a compliance rate of 47.5% for last year.
“These results reflect years of planning and a commitment to renewable generation that benefits our customers and the communities we serve,” said Janet Wells, Vice President of Integrated Resource Planning.
The company says that as of Aug. 31, 2025, they had around 3,800 megawatts of renewable resources in operation, including company owned and contracted generation.
NV Energy also has further renewable energy projects underway, such as large scale solar and geothermal projects.
“Renewable planning is an ongoing process,” Wells added. “When we file the upcoming Integrated Resource Plan, NV Energy will be requesting approval of a proposal that represents the largest addition of renewable energy resources in Nevada history. We will continue to evaluate opportunities to meet Nevada’s increasing clean energy standards while maintaining system reliability and affordability for our customers.”
