Visual kei band DRUGS have just launched their new Instagram account, just days after the original account’s permanent deletion by Meta. The original account had only been active for less than a year.

On June 2nd, the band posted statements in both English and Japanese to their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account. It explained the account suspension, as well as plans for a new account. On June 4th, DRUGS launched their new Instagram account, re-uploading previous posts from the now-deleted account.

Band drummer and founder Yoshiatsu took to social media to express his dismay at the situation, noting that he’s worried fans may not know the account had gone or that a new one exists, meaning fans could even miss out on DRUGS concerts because they didn’t see the news (but you could follow our tour calendar to avoid this too!). In a now disappeared Instagram story, he also suggested the band name may be the problem, but that it’s too late now.

In happier news, the band completed their first overseas shows, performing in Seoul alongside South Korean black metal VK band Madman’s Esprit. DRUGS frontman Tsuzuku said of Madman’s Esprit vocalist Kyuho, “I’ve found the best rival (comrade)”.

Meanwhile, in a post on social media, Kyuho stated “DRUGS are truly the coolest band ever. I am so happy to have found colleagues who deliver such great music and live performances. I think we’ll continue to be a great source of inspiration for each other in the future”. The bands will perform together again in August at DRUGS’ Kansen saibansho Vol.4 show at EDGE Ikebukuro.

Also, DRUGS recently released their 8th single, and 3rd MV, ‘AKUMA’, following the release of their 1st album ‘D/D/D’ back in February.
