Killington and Pico are announcing an expansion to the resort’s capital improvement plans with lots of upgrades happening this summer. Killington is set to spend $25 million in infrastructure improvements this year. Staff said the projects will transform every part of the mountain. Killington Resort has updated its capital improvement plan with an additional $3 million. “It was originally $22 million and now we have increased that to $25 million,” said Killington Communications Manager Josh Reed. Reed said Killington is adding more summer activities this year. A new trampoline area and climbing wall are a few of the new attractions coming to the mountain’s adventure park. They will open Fourth of July weekend. The resort is also creating another mountain bike trail using new technology called a trail crusher. “What this piece of equipment does is it goes through the trails, crushes rocks, reconditions dirt, makes new trails. It’s really a neat piece of equipment,” Reed said. Reed explained it is important to elevate guest experiences during every season. “We’re a four-season resort and we’re committed to that,” he said. For the winter, the resort is replacing the Snowdon triple chairlift with a new quad, fixed grip lift. It will be ready by the start of next season. They are also returning snow guns to the Snowdon area after 10 years without snowmaking there. Over at Pico, a temporary rope tow will be installed to reopen the Outpost skiing area for guests, after the old lift was forced to close last season due to mechanical issues. “It’s a really special part of Pico and we wanted to make sure that all of our guests had access to it,” said Reed. Pico does have plans to eventually add a brand-new chairlift to Outpost, but it will not be ready until the 2027-2028 season. With the additional investments, the resort is spending a total of $65 million in two years.
