Hang W/ Announces Live Video Streaming From GoPro Cameras
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hang w/ announced today an update for Hang w/ iOS that enables live video streaming from a GoPro camera.
GoPro’s extensive product line of cameras and mounting systems make it “easier than ever to capture and share your world like never before.” Through the Hang w/ app, users can stream video captured on a GoPro camera, live as it’s happening to other users of the app, to Facebook, to Twitter and to the Web.
“Our users have been asking repeatedly for a GoPro feature, and we are thrilled to deliver,” said Andrew Maltin, CEO of Hang w/. “The opportunities to stream hands-free from a GoPro camera are endless; athletes broadcasting live from the field, travelers sharing moments around the world, chefs in the kitchen, motorcyclists, divers, the list goes on and on.”
Hang w/ allows the broadcaster to choose between public or private broadcasts, meaning that GoPro streaming events can be shared with the world, or with a private audience. The GoPro feature captures video directly from the camera, while streaming audio from the broadcasting iPhone or iPad.
When the GoPro camera is combined with a flying drone, Hang w/ enables the user to share live aerial footage via the app and out to their social media. It also allows the broadcaster to narrate and chat with the viewers from the phone, rather than from the camera.
“We’ve been using the GoPro HERO4 and the DJI Phantom 2 drone in combination, streaming live video from high overhead.” said Maltin. “This is a game changer for anyone looking to share sporting events, music concerts, backyard barbecues and anywhere else that a live aerial view can help share a moment and bring people together.”
Also available in this release, the new iOS version will include:
– Native support for iOS 8;
– Tap-to-zoom for profile images;
– Various minor feature enhancements, bug fixes and graphical tweaks.
The Hang w/ GoPro update has been submitted to Apple and is expected to be released for download this week. Users who want to view live Hang w/ GoPro and DJI Phantom 2 drone footage can download the app at www.hangwith.me and follow the “hangwith” account.
