November 18, 2025

The Adirondack Garden Club has awarded seven grants from its 1928 Founders Fund to nonprofit organizations and municipalities working on environmental projects across the region.

The fund, established in the 1980s, provides grants to nonprofits and schools for programs that address environmental needs in specific areas of the Adirondacks.

This year’s recipients include:

Adirondack Trail Improvement Society, for trail maintenance to prevent erosion, preserve vegetation and improve hiker safety.

North Country Community College, Saranac Lake, for deer fencing around a native pollinator garden planted by environmental studies students.

Town of Waverly Museum, St. Regis Falls, to create a pollinator garden and memorial garden to help prevent erosion.

Champlain Area Trails, to restore hiking trails damaged in the Split Rock Wildway, including rebuilding footbridges, replacing planks and reinforcing stream crossings.

Pendragon Theatre, Saranac Lake, for native, low-maintenance plantings and pollinator areas at the theater’s new location.

Westport/Wadhams Community Alliance and Flowers Plus! Committee, to plant dwarf lilac hedges throughout the town ahead of a lilac festival planned for 2028.

Garden Club of America Scholarship Fund, to support students pursuing studies in botany, conservation, landscape architecture and pollinator research.

Founded in 1928, the Adirondack Garden Club focuses on gardening education, native plant protection and conservation. More information is available at: https://www.adirondackgardenclub.com/
