Aeromexico Cargo, Amazon Strengthen E-commerce Logistics

December 29, 2025

Aeromexico Cargo and Amazon have reinforced their strategic alliance to support the rapid expansion of e-commerce in Mexico. The partnership, established in 2021, focuses on enhancing national air connectivity to meet increasing consumer demand for fast and reliable delivery services across the country.

Mexico ranks among the top 15 global markets for e-commerce contribution, according to the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO). To maintain this momentum, Aeromexico Cargo is leveraging its air infrastructure to facilitate Amazon’s delivery promises, evolving from a local pilot program to a comprehensive national operation.

The collaboration becomes particularly critical during the “Peak Season,” which includes high-volume periods such as El Buen Fin, Black Friday, and the December holiday season. Market data from Envíame indicates that online delivery demand surges by 110% during this period.

In 2025, Aeromexico Cargo reported a 20% increase in e-commerce shipment volume compared to the previous year. The company expects a further 10% growth in 2026. To manage these historic records, the airline has implemented a specific operational plan involving preventive maintenance, route pre-allocation and staff reinforcement.

Amazon Mexico also expanded its logistics infrastructure and workforce to manage heightened demand during the 2025 festive season. The company announced the hiring of 8,000 temporary employees, bringing its total seasonal workforce to more than 23,000 people focused on ensuring on-time deliveries across more than 500 cities nationwide.

To support its “Delivering the Best of the Season” campaign, Amazon is deploying advanced technologies to improve delivery speed and safety. Key operational highlights include:

  • Fast delivery coverage: Amazon Prime members have access to same-day delivery in 14 cities and next-day delivery in more than 80 cities.

  • Ultra-fast essentials: Through Amazon Now, available in 10 cities, customers can receive essential products in under 15 minutes.

  • AI-powered safety: Amazon uses multimodal artificial intelligence and satellite imagery to design safer delivery routes, analyzing real-time traffic patterns to mitigate congestion during peak shopping periods.

Regional Distribution and Future Outlook

While e-commerce activity is national, delivery volumes are concentrated in specific economic hubs. Mexico City leads with 33% of total deliveries, followed by Nuevo Leon (9.56%), Jalisco (9.51%), Veracruz (5.05), and Puebla (4.89%).

In 2026, Aeromexico Cargo plans continued investment in digital technologies and infrastructure modernization to improve end-to-end traceability and security.
