UTICA, N.Y. — The man alleged to be involved in a stabbing at the Amazon facility in Frankfort over the weekend has been arrested, but not before he also attacked two other people in Utica.
According to the Utica Police Department, Daniel Namutereza of Utica faces charges of assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the incidents that occurred in Utica.
As of now, there have been no updates from the Frankfort Police Department regarding any charges he may be facing there for the Amazon incident.
UPD reports that Namutereza entered a convenience store located on the 600 block of Bleecker Street on Sunday afternoon around 5 p.m.
During an argument with the clerk over a purchase, he allegedly stabbed the clerk in the face, causing a large laceration, UPD reports.
After leaving the store, he approached a pedestrian on the sidewalk and, without provocation, stabbed the pedestrian in the chest before fleeing the scene on foot.
Later, while investigators were interviewing victims at the hospital, another call was received about a man matching Namutereza’s description threatening patrons with a knife at the North Utica shopping plaza.
The suspect fled once again.
Police said that Namutereza was captured on Monday at his residence in Utica.
UPD expressed gratitude towards Frankfort police and Amazon security for their assistance in the collaborative investigation.
FPD reported they were called to the Amazon scene around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.
One man was taken to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
UPD also confirmed that Namutereza is the suspect in that incident as well.
NEWSChannel 2 have reached out to FDP to find out what charges Namutereza may be facing in Frankfort.
