Allen Co. Democrats rally to oppose environmental rollbacks ahead of Earth Day

April 19, 2025

LIMA, Oh (WLIO) — The Allen County Democrats held a rally to voice concerns about recent policies impacting the environment.

The event is part of the “50 States, 50 Protests, 1 Message” movement taking place across the United States. Democrats from surrounding counties joined the protest at Faurot Park to speak out against actions taken by President Trump during his first three months in office.

Environmentalists are pushing back against his orders to roll back policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, opening national forests to logging, and expanding coal mining operations. Democrats say they are uniting to ensure their voices are heard.

“We agree on more than we disagree on in this country, we really do, when you think about it, and we need to pull together, because what’s happening on so many levels just goes against everything that we as Americans core believe. We have the resources. It’s just they’re being squandered, and especially now with our environment, it’s just too crucial. We’ve made so many advancements in science, and now we’re in danger of losing it,” says Alice Donahue, Allen County Democratic Party.

The Allen County Democrats plan to hold two rallies each month throughout the summer to protest the actions of the current administration.
