An online sales event we very much look forward to is Amazon Prime Day — and the retailer’s annual event is officially coming back this July.

Though exact dates are still to be announced, the summertime event is en route to land on everyone’s screens this July. In fact, Amazon may be extending Prime Day from two days to up to four days, according to Fox Business.

When is Prime Day 2025?

Amazon has not officially announced the dates for Prime Day 2025 yet. However, based on historical patterns, it’s expected to occur in mid-July. In 2023, Prime Day was held on July 11–12, and in 2024, it took place on July 16–17. Given this trend, Prime Day 2025 is anticipated to fall on or around these days.

As mentioned, reports suggest that Amazon is considering extending Prime Day 2025 to a four-day event, allowing for more deals and increased engagement. This potential extension reflects Amazon’s response to competition from other retailers and the desire to provide shoppers with more opportunities to access discounts.

You can best prepare by creating a wishlist of items you’re interested in, setting up deal alerts and ensuring your Amazon Prime membership is active to take full advantage of the deals.​

Do I have to be a Prime member to shop?

Yes, you must be an Amazon Prime member in order to shop Prime Day 2025. The sale is just one of many benefits offered to those who pay the monthly fee of $14.99.

However, you can snag a 30-day free trial if you don’t yet have a Prime membership.

Is Prime Day only once a year?

There’s technically only one Prime Day per year, however, Amazon hosts another Prime Day-like sales event in the fall, with the most recent installment being its Big Spring Sale that had its run in 2024 and, most recently, March 2025.

Since 2022, there has been a similar sales event taking place in October under different monikers, which has acted as a precursor to their Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

In 2022, it was called the Early Access Sale, and in 2023 and 2024, the Prime Big Deal Days.

What we expect to see on sale

During Amazon Prime Day, many products go on sale, but some categories consistently feature the biggest discounts. Here’s a breakdown of what’s typically on sale:

• Amazon Devices: Echo smart speakers, Fire TV sticks, Kindles, Ring doorbells and Fire tablets.
• Electronics & Tech Gadgets: Laptops, headphones (like Bose, Sony, Beats), TVs, smartwatches, gaming consoles and accessories.
• Home & Kitchen Appliances: Air fryers, coffee makers (like Keurig or Nespresso), blenders, robot vacuums (Roomba, Shark), and Instant Pots.
• Fashion & Accessories: Clothing, shoes, and accessories across all ages and brands — typically including Levi’s, Adidas and Amazon Essentials.
• Beauty & Personal Care: Skincare, hair tools (FYI, the Dyson Airwrap often sells out quickly), electric toothbrushes and razors.
• Health & Fitness: Supplements, home gym equipment, fitness trackers and apparel.
• Special Promotions: Audible and Prime Video typically host special discounts.
