Amazon delivery driver runs over woman in disturbing hit-and-run

February 20, 2025

Disturbing security camera footage showed the horrific moment a 29-year-old woman was run over by an Amazon delivery van before the driver took off and left her motionless in the street.

The Amazon worker is accused of hitting the woman on Tuesday just before 9:30 p.m. in a suburb of Baltimore, Md.

The woman was crossing the street at the intersection of E. Pratt and S. Chester Street when the dark blue Amazon van, which had stopped at the red street light, drove forward when they had the green signal.

The pedestrian was heard screaming as the vehicle slowly plowed over her body with its front wheels and then continued to drag her several feet.

The driver briefly stopped as the victim was heard weeping on the cold street under the vehicle but accelerated and rolled over her body again after briefly pausing.

“He had to know that there, you know, something was obviously wrong, especially driving a truck around all day,” resident Josh Webster told Fox 5 News. “You could differentiate, you know, between a pothole and a person. I’m pretty sure,” Webster said.

The Amazon employee finally exited the truck as the wounded woman screamed for “help” several times.

After spending around 30 seconds with the woman, the driver walked back to their van and drove away.

Good samaritans pulled up to the scene and quickly ran up to the abandoned victim.

One person was heard saying “I got a picture” which was likely them referring to getting a photo of the Amazon driver or van.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

The driver has since been temporarily pulled away from his delivery duties amid a police investigation, Amazon spokesperson Austin Stowe confirmed to Fox 5 News.

“We were made aware of this terrible incident today,” the statement read  “The driver in question has been suspended from delivering on our behalf and we’re working with his employer and law enforcement as they investigate.”

“They should definitely be held accountable,” Webster added. “I just pray that that woman’s okay.”

A driver in Maryland can face large fines and time behind bars if convicted of a hit-and-run.

A person accused of leaving the scene of the accident resulting in serious bodily injury could be faced with a felony that is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000, according to the Maryland-based law firm Price Benowitz LLP.

If the victim of a hit-and-run dies, the person who left the scene faces 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, the firm adds.
