Amazon: Dharmesh Mehta Named As Andy Jassy’s Next Technical Advisor
February 9, 2026
Amazon announced that Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Worldwide Selling Partner Services, will become CEO Andy Jassy’s new Technical Advisor (TA) in March, while Amit Agarwal, senior vice president of International Emerging Stores, will expand his responsibilities to lead the Selling Partner Services (SPS) organization.
Mehta has spent more than 12 years in Amazon’s Worldwide Stores leadership, including leading SPS and Customer Trust. Amazon said those teams build tools and services for independent sellers while helping maintain a trusted shopping experience. The company added that independent sellers now account for more than 60% of units sold in Amazon’s store.
Agarwal, who Amazon said has been with the company for nearly 27 years and is based in Seattle, will take on the expanded role reporting to Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores. In addition to continuing to oversee International Emerging Stores (IES), Agarwal will lead the SPS and Customer Trust teams. Amazon said IES oversees Amazon’s Stores businesses in 10 countries, including India, Brazil, Mexico, the Middle East, South Africa, and Australia.
Amazon described the TA role as a mechanism used by the CEO and other senior leaders to develop future leaders across the company. Alex Dunlap, Jassy’s current TA, will transition to a new leadership role that Amazon said will be shared soon.
