Amazon users have just two weeks to enjoy its popular streaming service Freevee.

The tech giant is pulling the plug on its free, ad-supported streaming service Freevee, USA Today reports. The tech giant notified subscribers earlier this month that the service will only remain accessible until August 2025.

“Continue watching your favorite Freevee Originals and our library of hit movies, shows and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed,” according to documentation obtained by USA TODAY.

The move initially was announced in November 2024, while this announcement came approximately nine months after Amazon introduced ads on its Prime Video service, USA TODAY said.

Despite the shutdown, that content will remain available through other Amazon platforms.

“There will be no change to the content available for Prime members, and a vast offering of free streaming content will still be accessible for non-Prime members, including select Originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, and a broad library of FAST Channels all available on Prime Video,” a spokesperson told USA TODAY.

Freevee has operated under several names throughout its existence. Initially launched in January 2019 by Amazon subsidiary IMDb under the name “Freedive,” it later became known as IMDb TV before eventually being rebranded as Freevee and then Amazon Freevee.

The streaming service gained popularity for offering free, ad-supported content through its dedicated app. According to Amazon Prime Video’s description, Freevee provided “thousands of hit movies, shows, Freevee Originals, and live 24/7 entertainment channels.”

Notable Freevee programming includes popular titles such as “Bosch: Legacy,” “Jury Duty,” “Judy Justice,” “America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation,” and “American Rust: Broken Justice.”

Users who wish to continue accessing Freevee content are advised to download the Prime Video app and sign in with their Amazon account.
