Amazon greenlights Fallout Shelter reality show
January 16, 2026
Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit a reality competition series inspired by Fallout on Prime Video.
Fallout Shelter will see contestants experience life as a Vault dweller as they participate in “escalating challenges, strategic dilemmas, and moral crossroads” for a cash prize.
Consisting of ten episodes, the series will be co-produced by Fallout series producer Kilter Films and Studio Lambert (The Traitors, Squid Game: The Challenge).
Casting is open for people aged over 21, and will close on February 15, 2026. Filming is expected to take place in June 2026 for three weeks.
“Fallout Shelter will blend large-scale challenges with deeply social, psychological, and narrative driven gameplay,” said Amazon. “It will stay true to the tone, world-building, and choice-driven ethos that has defined Fallout for over 25 years.”
The show takes its name from the free-to–play management sim initially released in 2015.
Fallout Shelter has since reached over 230 million downloads across all platforms, which includes iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
Following the premiere of the latest Fallout TV season, the game franchise experienced “significant spikes” in engagement and sales across all platforms.
Amazon renewed its Fallout adaptation for a third season in May 2025. The first series premiered in April 2024.
