Amazon hires thousands of seasonal employees across Nevada for holiday season

December 18, 2025

As you can imagine, Amazon is busier than ever with Christmas right around the corner.

The online retailer says it is hiring for more than 2,500 jobs across Nevada. So far, the delivery station near Stead has added about 100 people.

“We’ve probably ramped up our headcount 10-15% specifically to handle the increased volume,” said Jason Prince, who oversees the delivery station.

That percentage correlates with the increase in volume the station sees this time of year. Prince said the station ships almost 75,000 packages per day out of Stead during the holiday season. They handle about 60,000 boxes daily the rest of the year.

Even with more packages and more people, the facility’s goals remain the same.

“I think we’re doing a great job of keeping us safe and keeping our customer promise that we’re getting out the door,” said Sebastian McClinton, an Area Manager at the facility.

Prince says all of their seasonal employees will be offered permanent roles with the company to deal with projected growth.

“Even though we’ll take a slight dip in January, we’re expecting volume to grow over the next several months,” Prince said.

The Stead delivery station not only serves Reno-Sparks, but also Carson City, Fernley, and Truckee. Prince says they receive packages from larger areas such as Sacramento, so some areas like Donner Pass present challenges.

Prince said when the pass is closed, the station will “get a lot more volume that comes either up from Las Vegas or over from say, Salt Lake City.”

Prince says they do this every year, and they still receive some packages from the west.

If you’re hopping on Amazon for a last-minute gift with two-day shipping, McClinton says you shouldn’t feel too bad about it.

“You’re keeping us in work,” he said. “You’re helping provide jobs for the other 5,000 [people] that we hired throughout the year.”

Amazon posts new job listings on Fridays. You can see available listings here.
