Amazon Is Launching a New Budget 4K Streaming Stick, but It’s Not the One You Should Buy R
September 30, 2025
Amazon just launched a bunch of new devices today, one of which is new budget 4K streaming stick. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is set to be released on October 15 for the price of $39.99, which is indeed less than the usual retail price of the other 4K Fire TV Sticks currently available. But with Amazon’s Prime Big Deals sale right around the corner, you definitely shouldn’t spend your money on this new model when the more expensive versions are the same price or even cheaper.
The Fire TV Stick 4K is currently discounted down to $24.99 and the 4K Max is down to $39.99. So you can actually get the highest-end Fire TV Stick for the same price as the new budget option at the moment.
With a new budget option becoming available later this month, it’s likely that October Prime Day is going to be the best time of year to buy the more expensive models at these prices. By the time Black Friday comes around, it definitely seems likely the newest model is what Amazon will be pushing into bundles, which could mean higher prices on the Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max when purchased solo. This is only speculation of course, but the current prices on both of these models are at their lowest points of 2025 right now so there’s really no reason not to get one if you need one.

While the Fire TV Stick 4K Select does feature an overall lower retail price (in terms of MSRP), it is only able to do so because it doesn’t offer as many features. There are some minor differences, like no Wi-Fi 6 support and only 1GB of storage, but it’s the lack of supported video and audio options that make it the lesser choice. Unlike the older 4K models, the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select doesn’t come with Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision support. So if those features are important to you, you’re not going to be happy with the new budget streaming stick.
In terms of other features, the new 4K Select will be able to offer cloud gaming options like Xbox Game Pass and Amazon Luna, but those features might not be available right at launch.
