Meta’s Quest 3S is a great entry point into the world of virtual reality. It’s better than the Quest 2, introducing several improvements to “performance, capabilities, and user experience,” according to ZDNET managing editor Kerry Wan, who reviewed the device in 2024. Most importantly, it’s cheaper than the $500 Quest 3 — especially since Amazon is once again offering a great deal on the headset in the lead-up to the new year.

The Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset enables the device to load apps faster than its predecessor, maintain stable frame rates, and offer a two-hour battery life.

As per ZDNET’s rating system, I give this deal a 2 out of 5. It’s about $20 more than some of the offers ZDNET experts saw during Black Friday this year, but it’s still one of the better prices we’ve seen the Quest 3S sell for. Additionally, a complimentary $50 credit to spend as you wish is always a welcome bonus. If you’ve been considering getting into VR or upgrading from an older model, I recommend taking advantage of the bundle while it’s available.
