Amazon launches dedicated Irish website

March 18, 2025

Amazon has today launched its new dedicated website for Ireland – Amazon.ie.

The company said that Irish customers can now shop a wide selection of over 200 million products with prices in euro, fast deliveries and easier returns

Irish businesses – small and large – including Barry’s Tea, Bewley’s, and Ella & Jo will also soon be available on a dedicated “Brands of Ireland” page.

“Brands of Ireland” is part of a collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, and is being set up to help customers find their favourite Irish brands, and help local businesses to achieve greater scale and success.

Up to today, most Irish customers used Amazon sites based in the UK or other European countries.

Amazon said its new Irish site will mean that users will be able to avoid additional customs charges and currency conversion fees. It will also lead to faster delivery and returns for many items.

In 2022, Amazon opened a new warehouse and distribution centre in Dublin which employs 500 people.

At the time, the company said the facility would be a stepping stone to the launch of an Ireland-specific website in the future.

From today, customers can also join Prime on Amazon.ie for €6.99 a month to qualify for free delivery, exclusive deals and shopping events like Prime Day, TV shows, movies and live sport and free games on Prime Gaming.

Customers in Ireland who already have UK Prime memberships can easily switch, and will automatically have their UK Prime membership cancelled and refunded when they do so.

All customers, including those who are switching from a UK membership, can try Amazon.ie Prime by signing up for a 30-day free trial.

Alison Dunn, Ireland Country Manager at Amazon, said the store brings a wide selection of great value products with fast delivery to customers in Ireland, a local Prime membership with incredible benefits and savings, and lots of opportunities for Irish businesses to reach more customers.

“We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our Fulfilment Centre in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland,” she said.

Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke said Amazon’s dedicated Irish store will enhance customer experiences in Ireland and provide a significant platform for Irish SMEs to expand their online presence and grow their business.

“Amazon.ie provides even more opportunities for Irish businesses to reach global markets and help create domestic jobs. Amazon is a significant contributor to the Irish economy and today’s announcement strongly underscores Amazon’s continued commitment to Ireland,” he added.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the expansion by Amazon will give consumers more choice and better value, as well as help small, medium and large businesses across the country promote their own Irish and international products.

The company currently employs around 6,500 people in Cork, Dublin and Drogheda.

In 2023, Irish SMEs selling on Amazon recorded over €170m in export sales, with over half of those export sales outside the EU.
