Amazon Prime is offering a 20-cent-per-gallon discount — and you can stack savings with a credit card

April 1, 2026

In October 2024, Amazon partnered with earnify™ to bring fuel savings to Prime members in the form of 10 cents per gallon. Now, for a limited time, Prime members can double their savings for a total of 20 cents off per gallon on one fuel purchase each Friday.

In order to take advantage of the savings, you’ll have to fill up at one of the 7,500 bp, Amoco and participating ampm and Thorntons locations across the U.S. CNBC Select breaks down this newest Amazon Prime gas discount and some other ways you can save while fueling up.

What we’ll cover

How to get a gas discount with Amazon Prime

While Prime members typically save 10 cents per gallon via the free earnify™ app, for a limited time, Amazon is doubling that to 20 cents — but with a few restrictions.

Starting April 3 and running through May 29, Prime members can save up to 20 cents per gallon on a single fuel purchase made each Friday. You have to activate the membership at amazon.com/fuelsavings and pair your earnify™ account. Once you’re at the pump, you can either use your phone number or your linked payment method. The purchase has to be made at a qualifying gas station, so it might not always be the most accessible.

Additionally, if you set up your Amazon Family account, you can share this gas discount with one additional person over the age of 18 and living in your home. This means you could apply the gas discount twice a week, once for each individual, and save up to 40 cents per gallon in total each Friday at qualifying stations. Just know that the second individual will need to set up their own earnify™ account, but it is free.

Boost your savings with the Prime Visa

If you already have a Prime membership, it can make sense to pair it with the Prime Visa (see rates and fees). This cash back card offers 5% cash back on Amazon.com purchases, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market and Chase Travel.

One of the biggest reasons to apply is that the card doesn’t require an annual fee, just a Prime membership. In addition to the 5% cash back on your Amazon shopping purchases, the card earns 2% back on local transit and commuting (including rideshare), restaurants and at gas stations. So in addition to the 20 cents per gallon you’re saving, you could also be earning 2% back at the pump.

Additional cards to save on gas

If you don’t live close to any stations offering this discount, or you simply don’t use Amazon that often, other gas credit cards offer savings without requiring any additional accounts, sign-ups or fees.

With the Citi Custom Cash® Card, you can earn 5% cash back on your top eligible spend category each billing cycle, up to $500 (then 1%). There’s a total of 10 categories to choose from, one of which is gas stations. Provided that’s your highest spending category for the period, you’ll earn 5% cash back, which is among the highest rates you’ll see. The card has a $0 annual fee as well, so there’s a low barrier to entry, and you don’t have to use it every day to recoup a fee.

If you’re looking for a card that offers more than just simple cash back, the Citi Strata Premier® Card earns 3X ThankYou® Points on gas and EV charging stations, with no cap. While the card does carry a $95 annual fee, the Citi ThankYou® Points you earn are pretty valuable currency. You can move them to any of Citi’s transfer partners at a 1:1 ratio, including airlines like American Airlines and JetBlue. These can help you get more than just a single cent of value. Plus, the card offers a $100 annual hotel benefit off a single hotel stay of $500 or more, helping you save even more on your next trip.
