MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) – Amazon is sharing new details about the “Last Mile Delivery Station” set to be built in Menomonie.
As we’ve reported, the city of Menomonie closed on the sale of 29 acres in the north Industrial Park at 3521 59th Street Northeast. That’s right by Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery and Hurlburt Heating and Plumbing.
A leader with Amazon said this new station will provide 100 direct jobs to the area of mostly part-time work with some full-time leadership opportunities.
When picking the location, Amazon officials say it’s a great site in terms of access to infrastructure, proximity for workforce opportunities, and partnership. He adds it will also mean faster delivery times and more access to items that may not be readily available in brick-and-mortar stores.
“Customers will certainly see delivery speeds increase by about 50% on average. It also brings them closer to a variety of consumer-product goods that they may not have access to in their traditional brick and mortar stores, but it also gives them access to essential everyday items, including grocery items,” said Jason Vanagalis, the head of Central U.S. expansion for Amazon.
Amazon intends to break ground later this month and begin delivering packages from the 100,000 square foot facility late next year.
