Amazon to invest $11 billion in GA as it adds facilities in Butts, Douglas counties for AI expansion

ATLANTA — Amazon announced on Tuesday that it plans on building two new facilities in Douglas and Butts counties that will bring 550 new jobs to Georgia.
The $11 billion investment will “expand its infrastructure in Georgia to support cloud computing and AI technologies, underscoring the state’s continued rise as a technology powerhouse.”
The company said that Generative AI is creating a need for more advanced cloud infrastructure and computer output.

Amazon said it has already invested $18.5 million in the state since 2010 and has contributed $20.1 billion to the state’s gross domestic product.
There is no word yet on when the facilities will open or when positions will be available at them.
