October 27, 2025
Amazon plans to invest more than €1.4 billion in the Netherlands over the next three years (2025 – 2027). It underlines the company’s confidence in the Netherlands and continues Amazon’s commitment to innovation and providing an even better experience to customers through low prices, selection, and convenience, while helping small businesses in the Netherlands succeed. Representing our most significant financial commitment to the Netherlands since the launch in 2020, this investment will support both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and our retail business, supporting, infrastructure development, and help small and medium-sized businesses to expand their reach to customers both in the Netherlands and internationally.
Eva Faict, Country Manager of Amazon Belgium and Amazon the Netherlands announced the investment plans today during Amazon.nl’s anniversary congress in The Hague celebrating five years of serving customers in the Netherlands. “The Netherlands is an important growth market for us. Our primary focus is on continuously offering our Dutch customers low prices, a wide selection of products, and faster and convenient delivery options, and this investment of more than €1.4 billion in the Netherlands reflects that commitment,” she said.

“With these investments, we can serve our customers even better, improve our services, while also creating opportunities for local businesses to grow and further support Dutch entrepreneurs with our technology and expertise.”
Focusing on customers and supporting Dutch entrepreneurs
Amazon will improve and expand its existing activities. The additional resources will be used to enhance the overall experience for both customers and entrepreneurs selling through Amazon, including investments in technology, and logistics to expand product selection, offer lower prices, and improve the speed and convenience of delivery.
“This investment will substantially benefit Dutch SME entrepreneurs selling through Amazon.nl. More than 60% of all products sold on Amazon.nl come from our selling partners, and we’re seeing more and more Dutch entrepreneurs successfully growing their business and reaching customers in the Netherlands and around the world. We not only provide entrepreneurs with a sales channel but also support them with logistics solutions, marketing tools, and export opportunities,” says Eva Faict.
Additionally, through AWS, Amazon empowers Dutch entrepreneurs with modern cloud and data solutions, enabling them to boost their productivity, drive innovation, and leverage AI capabilities to grow their businesses.

90% of Dutch SMEs reach global markets
Amazon continues to be a powerful engine for Dutch small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to grow their business internationally. More than 4,500 Dutch SMEs currently sell on Amazon, with nearly 90% of them successfully reaching customers worldwide across 170 countries. The European market remains particularly strong for Dutch sellers, with over 75% of these SMEs exporting to other EU member states. German, French, American, British, and Italian markets have emerged as the top export destinations for Dutch businesses on Amazon.”

Economic impact and growth
We now employ over 1000 people across the Netherlands, from our Dutch offices in Amsterdam and Den Haag, to the Rozenburg delivery station. Independent research by independent macroeconomic consultancy Keystone Strategy[1] estimates that in 2024 alone, Amazon’s investments supported more than 2,000 indirect jobs and 900 induced jobs in construction, logistics, and professional services.
According to Keystone estimates, Amazon’s investments contributed more than €200 million to the Netherlands’s GDP in 2024, with a cumulative contribution exceeding €1 billion since 2013.
