ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Amazon is set to open a new sorting center in Troup County, creating about 1,000 full and part-time jobs, the company announced on Monday.
The 1.6 million-square-foot sortation center is expected to open in Hogansville, a small city about 50 miles southwest of Atlanta, in 2027. It will be the third sorting center in the state, the world’s largest online retailer said.
At sorting centers, employees organize customer orders by destination and load them onto trucks. Benefits start on day one, according to Amazon.
In a statement, Gov. Brian Kemp approved of the new center.

“This latest decision from Amazon is another significant investment in Georgia’s growing logistics network and our rural communities,” he said. “We’re proud of our business-friendly approach that continues to attract both big and small employers to this No. 1 state for business, and I look forward to Amazon’s impact on Troup County and the surrounding region.”
Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 31,000 jobs in Georgia and invested $18.5 billion across the state, the company said.
