Thus, Amazon is sending out a warning to shoppers to stay sharp as impersonation scams and phishing attacks heat up this holiday season.

Amazon just sent out an alert to over 300 million users, warning them that scam activity is ramping up across its massive platform as the holiday season commences.

As per a Forbes report, the email states hackers are trying to steal personal or financial info, or Amazon account details, by pretending to be someone else. These tricks often appear through browser notifications or platforms like Matrix Push, luring shoppers into handing over their login information without even realizing it.

Amazon also broke down the tricks hackers are pulling this holiday season in their warning email. This includes:

• Fake delivery or account alerts
• Shady third-party ads on social media promising crazy deals
• Messages from unofficial channels requesting account or payment details
• Suspicious links
• Random tech support calls

Notably, these scams aren’t brand-new, but Amazon warns they keep evolving, so staying alert is key, especially around Black Friday and Christmas sales. The e-commerce company has also given some tips to keep shoppers safe.

Some steps users can take to secure their details include using only the official Amazon website or app for customer service, tracking deliveries, changing accounts, or getting refunds. Moreover, they should set up two-factor authentication whenever possible.

Users can also try passkeys, a slicker, safer alternative to passwords that use face recognition, fingerprint, or PIN. Additionally, Amazon reminded users again that they will never ask for payment info or account details over the phone or email.
