Amazon’s ‘Tomb Raider’ Show Has Found Its Cast
January 6, 2026
While parts of the cast for Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Prime Video’s long-in-the-works Tomb Raider show have come out in drips and drabs (remember when it took Amazon almost a whole year to confirm Sophie Turner as Lara?), it seems like movement on the show is finally in full rope vine swing.
This morning Prime Video announced (via, of all places first, the official Tomb Raider Reddit) the supporting cast joining Turner in the latest adaptation of the iconic action-adventure game series. While the majority of the cast will play new characters created for the show, a handful are familiar faces from across the various eras of Tomb Raider games.
Let’s start with the familiar ones first. Martin Bobb-Semple is playing Zip, a young tech prodigy and hacker who also recently appeared in the animated series The Legend of Lara Croft. Bill Paterson has been cast as Winston, Lara’s longtime butler who’s appeared in almost every incarnation of Tomb Raider, from the original games right through to the “survivor” era of the series. Rounding out the familiar faces is the recently cast Jason Isaacs, who is playing Atlas DeMornay, Lara’s uncle from Rise of the Tomb Raider, who tussled with Lara for the ownership of her family’s estate after the death of her parents.

The remaining cast, however—which includes, deep breath, Sigourney Weaver, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein—are all playing brand new characters. Here’s the rundown and brief descriptions provided by Amazon:
Sigourney Weaver is Evelyn Wallis
A mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara’s talents.
Jack Bannon is Gerry
Gerry is Lara’s personal pilot and snack collector.
John Heffernan is David
David is an exhausted government official who finds himself tangled up in Lara’s unusual world.
Paterson Joseph is Thomas Warner
Thomas Warner is a senior government official brought in to clean up an almighty mess.
Sasha Luss is Sasha
Sasha is a fierce, deeply competitive new adversary of Lara’s.
Juliette Motamed is Georgia
Georgia is a devoted, by-the-books curator at the British Museum, dedicated to the ‘proper’ preservation of history.
Celia Imrie is Francine
Francine is the Head of Advancement at the British Museum, focused solely on raising funds and glasses of champagne.
August Wittgenstein is Lukas
Lukas is an illegal raider who shares history with Lara in more ways than one.
So we can expect Lara to not just run afoul of some nefarious underworld figures (and it certainly seems like Weaver is playing perhaps her primary antagonistic foil in the series, in a suitably Tomb Raider-ian manner), but also get embroiled in both the British government and the British Museum, who no doubt have thoughts about the kinds of things Lara goes about tomb raiding. Unless she starts offering it to them, of course, which would probably stop any complaints.
“Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favorites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix,” Waller-Bridge added in a provided statement. “This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”
Production on the new series—which was first announced as part of Waller-Bridge’s production deal with Amazon in early 2023—is expected to begin soon, just in time for Lara’s new video game era to kick off with the Legacy Atlantis remake of the original game later this year, and Tomb Raider: Catalyst‘s expected launch some time in 2027.
