Angelo’s Picks | Three New York cannabis products to try out this summer

June 24, 2025

I’m back with another cannabis strain review. Thanks to all who showed me love last month, it feels great to be back, sharing my love of New York cannabis with you all.

I wanted to share my motto, it’s all about pot for the people. Lately I’ve been thinking about how so many different people just love cannabis. You name it, I’ve sold them weed. I sold for years before it was legal, and I always made sure to treat all my customers with respect. Not just because everyone deserves respect, but I know just how special and important cannabis can be. You had a tough day? You have something to celebrate? You just want to feel normal? Cannabis, at least for me, always can help with those.

Cannabis brings you ease and relief, it makes all the everyday struggles feel a bit easier, but it’s also a culture, and everyone is welcome.

It’s really what makes working in this industry so special. It’s the thing that’s always been consistent as so much of selling weed has changed. Well that and it takes hustle. But back in the day, weed just sold itself, you didn’t have a marketing budget, you didn’t need permits, you definitely didn’t need a storefront. But back then, and today, selling marijuana, that beautiful flowery product, is all about adding joy to people’s lives.

You want some joy in life, whether for Pride celebrations, or for July 4th barbecues, or for both? Check out some of what I’ve been smoking and loving lately.

Here are Angelo’s Picks, June 2025 edition:

Rize, Carbon Fiber (Pre-Roll):

Rize is a microlicensee, a legacy to legal operator, who grows cannabis the old school way, with hydroponics in rock wool up at their farm in the Hudson Valley in a greenhouse. Small batch growers like Rize often have some of the best flower out there.

The moment you open the tube, the flowery, almost cheesy aroma pops, makes you want to take a bite. It has a really fresh smell and taste. And cannabis can be like wine, where some connoisseurs want it to have an almost funky aroma. As you light this you taste the sharpness, the freshness, it’s really luxurious. There’s a subtle taste almost like a rich chinese black tea with this batch, like lapsong souchong.

One hit in you already feel elevated, relaxing muscle and mind high.

Dank, Amnesia Haze (Pre-roll):

This flower has a sweet note with a sharp edge, like cherry with a hint of church incense (livanis). I’m Greek, and I might sound crazy but this has a hint of that Greek church frankinsense, brings me way back.

Dank is a larger cultivator, they are #1 in sales for a reason, with high THC percentages, and some of the most potent flower grown at this scale in the country.

I personally love Dank’s pre-rolls for a number of reasons, but the price point can’t be beaten. For $145 you can get 14 really big pre-rolls. I literally never go anywhere without my batch of dank pre-rolls for a reason.

This pre-roll is not infused, just straight flowers. It’s a sativa, really gets you coughing from the potency, a truly amazing head high, keeps you up for a couple hours, won’t put you to sleep, makes you want to keep hitting the pre-roll again and again.

BANZZY 1305, Velvet Glove (Flower)

Banzzy 1305 is from uptown, another legacy to legal operator. The second you touch this flower you can tell how fresh it is, that it’s grown indoor. Super sticky. As you crush it the aroma absolutely comes to life, it smells like a bouquet of flowers in the middle of a pine forest. This nug is so sticky you really gotta wash your hands after you roll it up, it’s next level.

This smokes incredibly smooth, full body of flavor, this is what the real cannabis lovers are chasing, just absolute fire. It’s got a mint or basil aftertaste, next level flavor on this product. I’m obsessed.

This gives you a euphoric head high and gets you to that right elevation quickly. High lingers for hours after you’re done smoking it.
