WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two people attempted an armed robbery at a Winston-Salem cannabis dispensary Saturday night, and an armed employee shot one of them. 

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department it happened around 11:07 Saturday night at Cooper Lake Cannabis, located at 2210 West Clemmonsville Road. 

Police say two armed and masked people forced their way into the business to attempt a robbery. An armed store employee positioned near the entrance shot at them, hitting one. The second suspect left the scene before officers got there. The suspect who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. 

Police are still investigating and withholding the names of those involved at this time.
