I’m a working mom of two teenagers, I prioritize comfort—but still want to look put together. Luckily, since it’s my job to cover Amazon deals, I’m always finding hidden clothing and accessories on the site. And recently, I’ve found plenty of affordable summer mom outfits that check every box.

So if you need some summer outfit inspiration from a fellow mom, you’ve come to the right place. Below, I curated a list of ideas that include breezy dresses and lightweight separates, comfortable walking sandals, and fun accessories that pull each ensemble together. Editorial Commerce Director Brie Schwartz, our team’s shopping expert who always has a pulse on what’s trending, also chimed in with her own pieces she’d recommend from her favorite brands.

For a classic, everyday look

A beachy neutral is one of my favorite summer go-to. Loose-fitting tops and bottoms allow for airflow, and sandals with thin straps, like the Sam Edelman pair, won’t weigh you down. Top off the outfit with a gorgeous hobo bag (you can use this one year-round) and a simple tennis bracelet for a bit of sparkle.

For daytime partying

For baby showers, special lunches, family reunions, or any occasion where you want to stay on the casual side but look a little extra polished, a preppy shirt dress is my go-to. Dress it up with contrasting accessories like this bright yellow Kate Spade purse and big gold hoops.

For traveling in style

Whether my summer vacation includes watching the sunset on a beach or strolling through a new city, I always bring maxi dresses like this pretty white one, which can be easily dressed up or down. And when you’re in tourist mode, a good pair of walking sandals is important. Our editors call these stylish Reef sandals the best slides for walking. Commerce Editor Angel Madison says, “When I tried these out, I noticed the cork footbed molds to your feet with continued use, and the platform design adds height without putting strain on your arches.” Style and comfort? I’m sold.

For staying chic at the office

Arriving at the office as a sweaty wreck after a long commute—that’s a non-starter for me. Lightweight work pants and sleeveless blouses are ideal for the summer, but I always bring a thin cardigan just in case the office AC is on full blast. I love these embroidered Vivaia Mary Jane mesh flats for adding texture and of course, a stylish tote is a must.

For busy weekends

There’s nothing wrong with denim cutoffs, but when I want to look a little more dressy on the weekends, I reach for flowy capris and a cute tank top. Comfortable sneakers are essential for staying on the move, and these Dr. Scholl’s pairs have the arch support I need. To finish the look, I carry my trusty Wanderfull bag (I own the gold version!), which easily fits a large Stanley along with my keys, phone, wallet, and charger. These nonslip sunglasses, available in more than 25 colors, are another go-to accessory for hot summer days.

For the backyard BBQ

There’s always a cookout or two on my calendar every summer, with the big one on the Fourth of July. Start with a pair of Levi’s Bermuda shorts that have some stretch to them. Add a red gingham shirt, funky blue Chuck Taylors, and a white rattan crossbody, and you’ve got an on-theme vibe for the holiday that looks undeniably cool.
