SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WTVD) — Three people are dead and eight people were injured in a shooting in Southport, North Carolina, on Saturday.

The Southport Fire Department said authorities responded to reports of an active shooter in the Southport Yacht Basin at the American Fish Company.

According to ABC11 affiliate WWAY , a spokeswoman with the City of Southport said a boat came up to American Fish Company, paused, and then opened fire on people before heading up the Intracoastal Waterway towards Oak Island.

Authorities said a person of interest is being questioned.
