Baker College expands cannabis curriculum amid industry challenges

April 14, 2026

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -Baker College is betting big on careers in cannabis. It’s expanding its curriculum for the growing industry.

It comes during a competitive and stressful time for the industry in Michigan.

This year, a contested 24% state wholesale tax took effect. Some dispensaries are closing and many other operators are under more financial pressure.

Baker is rolling out six online cannabis certification programs in connection with cannabis education company Green Flower.

The courses focus on things like cultivation, product development, compliance and medical cannabis.

The first programs start in May.

Baker College says most can be completed online in about 16 weeks.
