Bask Cannabis Dispensary opens its second location in Taunton after some challenges
March 14, 2025
Bask Cannabis Dispensary’s second location is officially up and running Taunton, a move that came with some challenges when owners were first looking at the area.
“I was going to do cannabis one way or another. But on the medical side, you actually get to help people,” said co-founder Chapman Dickerson.
For co-founders Chapman Dickerson and Tim Keogh, it all started with one goal in mind, which is to help people when creating Bask Cannabis Dispensary.
Their first location was put up in Fairhaven in 2013, a little after Massachusetts legalized medical use of cannabis.
But now, their second location in Taunton has been open for two months.
“My dad did ten years in prison, and he was our first customer in Fairhaven and that was a tearful moment,” continued Dickerson. “This business is not easy, no matter which way you look at it, there’s always challenges, A lot of red tape.”
When Bask was first looking here in Taunton, residents opposed the store becoming a new neighbor.
But, in 2022, Taunton City Council raised the number of dispensaries allowed in the area to nine, and now, their second store has been open for a little over two months.
They’re also hopeful that laws continue to change in the state.
In November, voters voted against legalizing psychedelic substances like mushrooms, but Dickerson doesn’t see this lasting.
Even though the road in this industry can seem long and hard at times, Dickerson and Keogh wouldn’t want it any other way.
“It’s still new, it’s still fresh. It’s going to take a few times. Here in Massachusetts, it started in 2008, with de cram, then it went to medical, then adult use,” said Dickerson. “But you know what, We’re in it for the long haul, and I want to do this for the rest of my life.”
