When Hurricane Beryl hit Texas in 2024, it left more than 2 million people in the Houston area without power. But while many were left shivering in the dark, owners of some electric vehicles – including several GM models, Tesla’s Cybertruck and Ford’s F-150 Lightning pick-up truck – were able to keep their homes running for days using their car batteries.
