After the success of The Accountant in 2016, it was natural to bring the team back for a new story. In the sequel, Ben Affleck returns as Christian Wolff, an autistic accountant who secretly handles money for dangerous criminals. This time, the film also adds humour by showing Christian trying to find love, which is not easy for him. In one memorable scene, he uses math skills to learn line dancing at a bar. Even though he struggles with social skills, Christian figures out the dance steps and manages to connect with someone special.

Speaking with Times Now, Ben explained, “That was one of the fun things about this thing, the idea that he wants to have a relationship with a woman, he’s trying to figure out how to put yourself out there. He’s not comfortable extending himself, he doesn’t really know how to flirt exactly. And what he does is kind of a lovely thing, which is he uses something that he’s comfortable with, which in that case is the ability to recognise and identify the pattern of line dancing, and it’s the perfect way that he’s comfortable to stand next to this woman who he’s attracted to and wants to connect with. And it required a lot of me. I probably am not going to get a lot more demands from my line dancing work.”

“I’m coming at this line dancing thing like I don’t really have the natural gifts, but I’m willing to try, you know? I would say they [his co-stars] did a hell of a lot better with the action than I did with the line dancing. Luckily for me, it wasn’t supposed to be good, at least,” the actor added.

Ben Affleck, who has acted in about 50 films, has not done many sequels. When asked why he returned for The Accountant 2 after six years, he explained that the first film stayed popular for a long time. Many still talk to him about it, which showed him that the movie was still being watched. He believes that streaming platforms helped more people discover it over time. He also said that he really likes the character and had fun playing the role.

Ben and director Gavin O’Connor were both excited about bringing Jon Bernthal’s character back and giving him more screen time. The writer, Bill Dubuque, and Gavin spent years carefully planning the sequel and didn’t want to just repeat the first movie, but wanted to tell a fresh story with more depth.

The Accountant 2 is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video on June 5.
