Pershing Square Capital Management, founded by Bill Ackman, is among the most profitable hedge funds historically according to LCH Investments. As of December, the fund had 25% of its portfolio invested in two artificial intelligence stocks: 14% in Amazon and 11% in Meta Platforms.

Amazon’s Position in the Portfolio

The investment rationale for Amazon focuses on its leading online marketplace in key regions and the dominance of its Amazon Web Services cloud division. The company is applying artificial intelligence across its retail operations to enhance efficiency in areas like inventory and logistics. These efforts, along with advertising growth, are seen as contributors to improved operating margins, which expanded in the fourth quarter excluding certain charges.

The AWS segment has introduced numerous AI offerings, including specialized chips and tools for developers. Revenue growth for the cloud business accelerated to its highest rate in over three years during the last quarter.
