Binghamton City Council invites public to discuss proposed crackdown on illicit cannabis sales

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) — The Binghamton City Council invited the public to a town hall meeting to discuss cannabis laws and the proposed crackdown on unlicensed sales.
This town hall meeting will discuss Mayor Kraham’s recently proposed legislation to crack down on illicit cannabis sales.
The executive summary of the legislation is as follows.
“The purpose of this Chapter is to prohibit the unlicensed and unpermitted marketing and sale of cannabis and cannabis products, to adopt procedures for conducting regulatory inspections of premises suspected of such activities, and to authorize the commencement of enforcement mechanism, and to seek remedies to halt such acitivies to protect the public health, safety and welfare and to promote the public good.”
The meeting, on March 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., is open to the public.
The Municipal & Public Affairs Committee Chair for Binghamton City Council Kinda Middleton and the Executive Director of the Cannabis Association of NY Damien Cornwell will speak at the meeting.
