Binghamton judge reprimanded for creating hostile work environment

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) — A local judge was reprimanded for creating a hostile work environment and is set to return to the bench in the Binghamton City Court.

A news release from the New York State Commission said Binghamton City Court Judge Daniel Seiden had objected to changing the way criminal cases were to be tracked, from manual to digital.

According to the paperwork, Judge Seiden caused problems for others during system changes and stated that court clerks should quote, “stay out of his shorts,” or mind their own business.

The judge was reassigned to the Cortland City Court, where he said others were “intoxicated by power and privilege.”

Officials said Judge Seiden acknowledged his behavior was improper and voluntarily completed court-offered workplace communication programs.

Seiden was served with a formal complaint in February, one charge for which he entered into an agreement with the commission.

Judge Daniel Seiden is set to return to Binghamton City Court on April 28.
