Blumhouse and Meta Team Up For Horror Game Starring M3GAN & Other Horror Icons
May 22, 2025
Iconic horror characters have become playable in virtual reality, as Blumhouse and Meta have released Blumhouse Horrorverse, a multiplayer VR title for Meta Quest featuring characters like M3GAN.
Horror movies have been prime real estate for crossovers for decades, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the world of video games, with the Mortal Kombat and Dead by Daylight franchises bringing iconic monsters together to either fight each other or prey upon innocent victims.

The Doll Is Free To Kill In VR
According to Variety, Blumhouse has teamed up with Meta for a VR game that features some of its characters. Blumhouse Horrorverse launched on Meta Horizon for Meta Quest on May 22, 2025, bringing different monsters together for minigames.
The main minigame is called “Survival Lockdown,” and it sounds very similar to Dead by Daylight. All of the players are assigned a role: Victim or Villain. The Victims have to work together and gather keycards to escape danger, while the Villains hunt them down and pick them off one by one. The Villains include M3GAN, the Babyface Killer from Happy Death Day, and Lady Liberty from The Purge.
The other minigames include a shooting range based on The Purge, a game based on Wolf Man, and a screening area for Blumhouse content. A trailer for the game is now available on the Meta Quest YouTube channel.

M3GAN For Super Smash Bros.!
A horror game featuring Blumhouse characters is an interesting idea, but the fact that it’s locked to Meta Quest dulls the excitement somewhat, especially with VR as a whole failing to break into the mainstream.
Blumhouse has been a big supporter of Meta Quest, with their being 29 other games based on its properties available on the VR platform. Horror does tend to do well in VR, so a Dead by Daylight-style game would be a good fit.
