BMW and Mini EVs Get 20% Discount at Ionna Chargers
May 15, 2026
BMW of North America announced the launch of a preferred pricing program at Ionna charging locations across the US for BMW and Mini electric cars.
The company is one of eight founding members of the Ionna charging network, which currently includes well over 100 locations, and is one of the largest DC fast-charging networks in the country.
20% Discount at Ionna
The preferred pricing program includes BMW and Mini EVs, which will receive a 20% discount on charging sessions at Ionna, initiated with Plug & Charge or the My BMW App*.
* Customer must create a Shell Recharge account in My BMW or Plug & Charge in order to receive the discount. Discounts will not be applied if customers use a credit card at the station.”
That’s a substantial rebate, especially when taking into account already attractive prices at the Ionna network. According to Ionna, its pricing varies from $0.32 to $0.39 per kWh, depending on the location.
After including the 20% discount, the effective cost should be from $0.27 to $0.32 per kWh. That’s one of the most attractive prices in the industry. It’s worth noting that Ionna stations offer 400-kW chargers with full support for high-voltage batteries, NACS/CCS1 connectors, and a range of amenities.
The discount program started on May 14, 2026, and will be active through September 30, 2026. We assume that, at that time, the German manufacturer will announce an extension, potentially related to the market launch of the BMW iX3, scheduled for September 25, 2026.
The cool thing about the program is that for EV drivers with Plug & Charge or the My BMW App, it works fully automatically, without any additional steps or subscriptions.
“The offering is fully integrated within the vehicle’s digital ecosystem and automatically applied—no additional cards, subscriptions, or manual activation required. This creates an easy “charge-and-go” experience, underscoring the company’s continued focus on reducing complexity and improving everyday usability as public charging becomes an integral part of electric mobility.”
Shaun Bugbee, Executive Vice President, BMW of North America, said:
“BMW firmly believes in an electric future, and it’s no secret that reliable high-speed charging infrastructure remains essential to the continued growth of the electric vehicle market. We currently offer one of the broadest portfolios of premium electric vehicles in the U.S., with the next-generation BMW iX3 arriving in the U.S. later this year. As our electric vehicle offerings continue to expand, initiatives like this help ensure our customers enjoy a seamless ownership experience wherever they travel.”
BMW does not specify any models, so we assume that the discount applies to all BMW and Mini EVs.
More Ionna Discount Programs Coming
The first Ionna shareholder to launch a discount program was General Motors in March 2026 (10% off for charging Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC EVs). BMW Group is second.
Six other Ionna founding members (Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota) are expected to launch their preferred pricing programs “soon”.
This should promote the Ionna charging network as well as the participating EVs.
