Bourbon Street restaurants, bars closest to attack step up for others. Here’s how to help

January 7, 2025

People have been stepping up with support in different ways after the deadly New Year’s Day atrocity on Bourbon Street. Now, a group of hospitality businesses closest to the attack are banding together to help others.

Restaurants and bars along Bourbon Street and others nearby are taking part in a new campaign called Fleur du Coeur: A Culinary Tribute. From Jan. 13 to Jan. 19, each will have a special dish or drink on their menus, with all proceeds from that item pledged to the New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund, through the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

Many of the same restaurants and bars lost business as a result of the attack as streets were closed and doors remained shuttered. They range from fine dining spots and historic restaurants to oyster bars, a wine bar and casual takeout joints.

The Louisiana Restaurant Association is organizing the effort, and participating businesses are members of the trade group.

“We hold the victims and their families in our hearts as we fight to bring peace and life back to our home,” said Katy Casbarian, co-owner of Arnaud’s Restaurant and French 75 Bar. “The resiliency of the residents of New Orleans and the strength of our community will help us all heal during this difficult time.”

The name Fleur du Coeur combines the city’s fleur-de-lis imagery with the French word for heart, to represents “the community’s boundless love and unity in times of hardship.”

To contribute, visit any of these restaurants or bars from Jan. 13-19 and order the featured Fleur du Coeur dish or drink. On social media, use the tag #Fleurducoeur to spread the word.
