BSEE Ensures Safe, Responsible Operations as Offshore Production Reaches Record Levels  – environment coastal & offshore

April 2, 2026

Production in the Gulf of America remains central to the nation’s offshore energy sector, with major deepwater projects driving increased output. As new projects come online and existing infrastructure reaches peak production, BSEE personnel are actively monitoring operations to ensure facilities meet rigorous safety and environmental standards.

“Under the Trump Administration’s Energy Dominance agenda, record offshore production is helping strengthen American energy security while supporting thousands of good-paying jobs,” said BSEE Acting Director Kenny Stevens. “BSEE’s role is to ensure this development is carried out safely and responsibly, with strong oversight that protects workers and the environment.”

BSEE engineers, inspectors, and scientists oversee key aspects of offshore operations, including facility inspections, well control systems, equipment testing, and safety reviews. The Bureau applies a risk-based approach to prioritize inspections and maintain compliance across a complex offshore environment.

The US Outer Continental Shelf remains a vital component of the nation’s energy portfolio, supporting jobs, economic growth, and a stable energy supply. BSEE remains committed to protecting offshore workers, supporting coastal communities, safeguarding the environment, and ensuring energy development in federal waters is conducted safely and responsibly.
