Cannabis Justice Day pressures President Trump for more cannabis clemencies

April 16, 2025

On Thursday, cannabis justice advocates from across the United States will converge on Washington, D.C., to amplify the voices of those impacted by cannabis-related incarceration and to push for continued reform. The events, encompassing the Cannabis Justice Conference and the Voices for Freedom Gathering, serve as a platform to recognize past clemency actions and to advocate for ongoing equitable changes in cannabis laws.

The Cannabis Justice Conference, held from noon to 5 P.M. at Solo Piazza, features panels that delve into the realities of cannabis incarceration and its lasting consequences. Discussions center on the challenges of re-entry, the collateral damage inflicted on families and the importance of clemency in providing second chances. Speakers, including formerly incarcerated individuals and advocates, are sharing their experiences and insights. Later this evening, the Voices for Freedom Gathering will take place in Lafayette Park, in front of the White House. This gathering will provide a space for advocates, families, and returned citizens to unite, expressing both gratitude for past clemency and a continued call for justice for those still affected.

This mobilization reflects the ongoing efforts of various organizations deeply committed to cannabis justice. Groups like Freedom Grow, The Redemption Foundation, Mission Green, and Jailed for Weed, alongside cannabis brands founded by formerly incarcerated individuals, are driving this day of action. They are actively working to rectify the harms caused by past cannabis policies and to ensure that reform efforts continue. As the legal landscape surrounding cannabis evolves, these advocates are highlighting comprehensive and compassionate justice.
