Cannabis officials urge safe storage ahead of Halloween

NEW YORK — The Office of Cannabis Management is urging people to stay safe with their cannabis products ahead of Halloween, especially with children around.
The office said there has been a rise in cannabis exposure in children and is issuing an urgent reminder that safe storage should be paramount.
Lyla Hunt, deputy of public health and education director from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, said parents should be mindful of where they store cannabis products.
“We often remind parents, you know, that kids may know where you store where you’re hiding your holiday gifts or birthday gifts, so don’t necessarily use those common hiding spots to make sure they’re really not getting accidentally exposed to those products,” Hunt said.
Hunt also emphasized the importance of buying from verified sellers who sell licensed, tested, and clearly labeled products, keeping both buyers and potentially exposed people safe.
