Cannabis vape recall issued in Maine over health risk
October 27, 2025
Maine’s cannabis regulators recalled Yani vape cartridges made by NorCO after tests found unsafe pesticide levels linked to a consumer health complaint.
MAINE, USA — The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy on Monday issued a mandatory recall for Yani adult-use vape cartridges produced by NorCO Outdoor Cannabis after tests found unsafe levels of the pesticide Chlorfenapyr.
The recall affects “Watermelon Chimera” live resin cartridges sold in 0.5-gram and 1-gram sizes at 21 retail stores across Maine between July 10 and Oct. 16, 2025. The affected batch number is 1A40D0300006145000011115.
State officials said the recall follows a consumer complaint about an adverse health reaction. Testing of the reported batch confirmed the presence of Chlorfenapyr at levels considered unsafe for inhalation.
Chlorfenapyr is highly toxic to humans. Inhaling cannabis contaminated with the pesticide can cause symptoms such as high fever, sweating, nausea, vomiting, or altered mental status, according to OCP.
Consumers who purchased the product should check the batch number on the package. If it matches the recalled batch, the agency urges people to dispose of it safely or return it to the retailer. Anyone experiencing symptoms should contact a healthcare provider immediately or call 911 in a medical emergency.
The recalled products were sold in Auburn, Augusta, Bangor, Bethel, Carrabassett Valley, Chelsea, Damariscotta, Eliot, Fairfield, Guilford, Lewiston, Milo, Peru, Portland, Presque Isle, Rockland, Stratton, Thomaston, and Waterville.
