CarPlay coming this week for a major Tesla competitor’s electric SUV

March 11, 2026

EV maker Lucid is bringing Apple CarPlay support to its Gravity SUV starting tomorrow. While Tesla is rumored to be working on Apple CarPlay support, Lucid Gravity makes one more EV model with the iPhone feature first.

Lucid says Apple CarPlay support is now standard on all new Lucid Gravity SUVs.

Existing owners can expect a free over-the-air software update to bring CarPlay and Android Auto support, starting tomorrow on March 12 in North America. Gravity drivers in the Middle East and Europe will see the Lucid UX 3.5 update start to arrive later this month.

“Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most sought-after features by our customers,” said Emad Dlala, SVP of Engineering and Software at Lucid. “We are now providing a seamless connection between mobile devices and the Lucid Gravity. We’re excited to introduce these features to Lucid Gravity, which now offers even greater comfort and convenience for owners.”

CarPlay support will include both wired and wireless. Lucid already supports Apple CarPlay in its luxury Lucid Air sedan, which arrived three years ago.

Meanwhile, Tesla is expected to adopt CarPlay for the first time in the near future, although it hasn’t publicly acknowledged media reports or confirmed plans. Rivian, on the other hand, is focusing on Apple Car Key and Apple Watch support without committing to CarPlay.
