Cathie Wood Calls New SpaceX Milestone ‘Wild’ After Elon Musk Touts 119 Satellites Delivered To Orbit At Once
March 31, 2026
Cathie Wood, chief executive of ARK Invest, reacted in awe of SpaceX’s latest satellite-hauling feat, replying to a post by Elon Musk in which the billionaire said the company had delivered 119 satellites to orbit at once on its Transporter-16 rideshare mission.
Wood quoted a post by Musk on Sunday with a single word replying, “Wild!” after he posted about SpaceX’s successful launch. SpaceX says the mission includes cubesats, microsats, hosted payloads, a reentry vehicle and orbital transfer vehicles carrying some of the payloads.

Musk wrote that the Falcon 9 used for the mission can carry about 20 tons to orbit even with a reusable booster and fairing, adding that this makes it a “heavy” class rocket by conventional standards.
The exchange came as attention around SpaceX has intensified because of its expected initial public offering, one of the year’s most anticipated debuts. Reuters, citing The Information, reported last week that SpaceX was preparing to file for an IPO as soon as this week or next and is expected to raise up to $75 billion. SpaceX will target a valuation of $1.75 trillion, as confirmed by Musk in a social media post earlier this month.
SpaceX is also reportedly mulling a dual-class share structure to ensure Musk retains control post-IPO, a strategy similar to that adopted by tech giants like Alphabet Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc..

Among funds offering early exposure to SpaceX, the ARK Venture Fund has one of the largest weightings. As of Feb. 28, SpaceX accounted for 17.96% of the fund, its largest holding by far. According to data by Benzinga Pro, the fund returned roughly 64% over the past year, ahead of the S&P 500 Index, the Invesco QQQ Trust, which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index, and the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust.
ARK said in June 2025 that SpaceX could reach a roughly $2.5 trillion valuation by 2030, driven largely by Starlink.
